About Us

Our History

The lotus flower represents purity while rooted in the mud with the petals raised above muddy murky water. The lotus flower is what Vividbound represents as a 501c3 Non-Profit Organization.

According to the Oxford dictionary, vivid means to produce a powerful feeling or strength, and/or clear images within the mind. Bound means to walk or run with leaping strides, leaping movements upward.  Each partner and client of Vividbound represents being vivid bound.

Founded in 2019, Vividbound became established based on the knowledge that domestic violence and sexual assault survivors encounter numerous obstacles that remain unspoken and unseen by many when survivors are in the process of evading an abusive situation. Ultimately, our organization was launched with a “for us by us mindset”.  This mindset formed the foundation for Vividbound with the understanding that a survivor that previously endured abuse and is currently thriving can best help other survivors flourish.

Vividbound is committed to providing services to women and their children who have suffered from domestic violence and/or sexual assault.  Vividbound offers confidential assistance with creating a safety and violence prevention plan, advocacy services, counseling, and additional resources as needed within a safe and non-judgmental environment.

Vividbound is also dedicated to educating the community, transforming lives while showing compassion, and ending the cycle of abuse.  So if you have questions, are afraid, or afraid for a friend, please reach out.

Our Mission & Vision

Our mission is to empower, educate, and support survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault while educating the community about victims of abuse. Most importantly, Vividbound's values are to advocate for victims/survivors of crime, provide confidentiality, and offer resources all within a safe and non-judgmental environment.  Our mission results in transitioning our clients from surviving to thriving. Additionally, our mission utilizes a don't lose hope approach which involves the community’s support. Vividbound's mission requires a village.

"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." – Helen Keller

Our vision is to have a world free from domestic violence and/or sexual assault.

“You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I’ll rise.”
― Maya Angelou, And Still I Rise

Our Staff & Volunteers

Vividbound is staffed with an amazing multidisciplinary team that encompasses life coaches, social workers, registered nurses, and physical security. The staff is comprised of individuals who have experienced and survived abuse.  Having survived these atrocities the staff is able to fully engage and provide an empathetic approach that is beneficial to those reaching out to receive Vividbound services.

Additionally, the staff are able to share their insights and experiences as well as how they are thriving now that they are away from their previous situations.

We understand difficult and scary situations.  We also know that abuse is not your fault.  Our primary concern is your safety. Whether you are in an abusive situation or you are afraid for your friend, we are here to help.

Vividbound's Impact

Vividbound has made a difference in the community and the lives of those we serve. We are committed to creating lasting change. Helping our clients transition from surviving to thriving! Our clients are "Rising Above Murky Water" like a lotus flower. Restoring Hope: Who Are You Becoming?

Restoring Hope: "Who Are You Becoming?"

 6-Week Women's Support Group Program

Vividbound, in partnership with Mindology, is proud to present Restoring Hope: Who Are You Becoming?—a six-week women’s support group designed to foster healing, self-reflection, and personal growth.

Scheduled from February 21 through March 28, 2026, this group will meet weekly from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., utilizing a hybrid model that includes three in-person sessions and three virtual sessions, held on a rotating schedule to promote accessibility and consistency of care. The group will serve 10–12 women in a safe, supportive, and confidential environment.

The sessions will be led by Taylor Baker, a Trauma-Informed Therapist, alongside Janine H. Founder and Executive Director of Vividbound.

Throughout the six-week journey, participants will engage in guided journaling during every session as a tool for self-discovery, emotional processing, and intentional growth. Their will be group discussions covering core topics that will include self-love, boundary-setting, emotional regulation, healthy communication and self-talk, healthy compromise, somatic therapy and grounding techniques, and reflective questionnaires that encourage deeper insight into personal patterns and goals.

Sip & Scribe: “From Reflection to Revelation: A Journaling Experience”

Vividbound is honored to announce the collaboration with Sip & Scribe for the 6-week women's support group program Restoring Hope: "Who Are You Becoming?" The women's support group program is designed to create a safe, supportive, and empowering space for reflection, growth, and connection. This series of invites participants who are survivors of abuse to slow down, look inward, and explore who they are becoming as they move forward in their personal journeys.

Furthermore, this support group program blends therapeutic conversation, journaling, and experiential activities, including a special collaboration with the Sip & Scribe team (Marisha and Swanda). Sip & Scribe will host a journaling workshop session on February 21st, to support healing, confidence, and personal growth—no prior journaling experience is required.

Sip & Scribe is a community-based journaling experience led by Marisha Mathis and Swanda Warren. Held every other month on a Friday, Sip & Scribe invites participants to gather for two hours in a safe, supportive, and alcohol-free space. Attendees enjoy light appetizers and a variety of teas or healthy beverages while engaging in guided journaling using provided prompts. The experience is designed to encourage reflection, connection, and self-expression within a welcoming community environment. Once again, we are honored to have Sip & Scribe's collaboration with the opening of the Vividbound in partnership with Mindology 6-week support group program scheduled to begin on February 21st.

Participants for the 6-week support group program are encouraged to attend all six sessions to gain the full benefit of the program and experience continuity in growth and connection.

The Giving Stitch: Loops of Love

Vividbound Crocheting for Comfort Campaign is A Two-Way Mission of Healing and Giving At Vividbound, we believe in empowering our clients with skills that heal, uplift, and inspire. Through our Crocheting for Comfort Campaign, your donation does more than provide supplies that creates a beautiful, two-way give-back opportunity.

Here’s How It Works: Your support will allow Vividbound clients many of whom are survivors of domestic violence and other life challenges to learn the art of crocheting as a therapeutic, confidence building skill. In turn, these newly learned skills will be used to create handmade pillows, blankets, and toys that will be donated to children and seniors in need of love and comfort.

This is a mission of reciprocal kindness:

✔️ Clients gain healing and life skills.

✔️ Children and seniors receive handmade gifts of care and support.
